This month we look at the new 60-m launch from French shipyard CMN, Slipstream, which was launched this summer and will be showing at the Monaco Yacht Show 2009. TCR asked the captain and crew about their initial impressions and favourite features.

When asked about the best features of this superyacht, her crew offers the following: “Her striking colour scheme, great interior design and very versatile, spacious sundeck allowing great guest living areas. [The] large windows throughout the whole boat flood it with light.”
However it is not just the aesthetic that has been considered for Slipstream, the largest build to date from French shipyard CMN. Accounts from the crew suggest that practicality has been a major consideration in her design – the galley in particular. This has been fitted with professional industrial units, stainless steel surfaces throughout, hot lamps, a chilled marble section for chocolate tempering and larder preparation, a practicalsized compactor and a digital combo-steam oven. Large storage areas have also been provided with fridge/freezer spaces – very popular with the chef.
The crew has access to the increasingly popular Kaleidescape entertainment system and there is wireless internet access in the crew mess and some crew cabins. A four-person sofa offers a superb view from the bridge. Of note is the access in the lower bilge deck and technical spaces, allowing a full walkthrough from the lazarette to the crew spaces. Day heads are available for contractors and dayworkers away from restricted areas.
According to the crew, CMN has been very keen to work with the crew to “improve in every aspect of yacht construction” through feedback post-launch, which can only be a positive for future launches from the yard.
