The France- and Monaco-based Goldfish dealer, William Parton has just delivered an interesting tender to an 82-metre motoryacht that had some weight restrictions.
The motoryacht wanted to replace its existing Nautica Cat 20 with a faster, dryer boat which the owner could enjoy driving from time to time. With the help of CAD drawings supplied by the Goldfish dealer they were able to select which model best suited the foredeck space available and settled on the Goldfish 25 RIB.
The crane supplier then refused to allow a weight upgrade which meant the 25 needed to lose some weight so it could be hoisted full of fuel and with a crewmember weighing less than 1,750kgs.
Goldfish is now able to offer full carbon boats across the range on the 25, 29 and 36 RIBs. The decision was also taken to go for the more compact and lighter Volvo D3 rather than the normal Yanmar unit. The Volvo happens to be the same units fitted to their main tenders so was logical. This had the effect of reducing the boat down from 1,855kg to 1,615kg fully loaded.
The other benefit of the reduced weight is an improved performance and even with the smaller 190hp Volvo diesel the boat is still giving well over 40 knots in Med conditions and nearly 45 knots in Norway.
